JUDGES
We feel incredibly lucky having 2 local authors judge the writing competition, they can't wait to read all your fantastic creations.
Robert Thorogood
Robert is the creator of the very popular 'Death in Paradise' series for the BBC, and while he still works on the TV show (series 11 is currently filming in Guadeloupe), he also writes stand-alone Death in Paradise novels featuring the show’s first detective, D.I. Richard Poole.
Robert has also adapted the spy thriller Trackers from Deon Meyer’s novel for Sky Atlantic. His latest project is well known and loved by all Marlovians, a light-hearted murder mystery novel called 'The Marlow Murder Club' that’s set in our hometown of Marlow, the finest town in Britain. |
Julie Carlyle-Hoggan
Julie Carlyle-Hoggan has lived in a cottage in Marlow for 20 years. Her working life has involved a myriad of roles....from waiting tables on Sydney Harbour to archiving at The Bodleian Library, from managing Mencap residential homes to serving pints and Tom Kerridge pies at The Butcher's Tap. She has also loved working alongside the children of Marlow for several years at Jack and Jill Preschool and more recently at Holy Trinity School.
Julie has three favourite achievements in life, two of which are her teenage sons. The third is the publication of her book for young children - The Wingtip Elfins. It is a read-aloud story exploring kindness, courage, truth and mindfulness. Julie believes firmly in writing for your own enjoyment and fulfillment without fear or judgement. She encourages anyone with a passion for writing to simply 'be yourself and write.' |
